Admitted Transfer Students

Already admitted? Congratulations!

As a transfer student, you’re an important part of our campus community. We want you to start your transfer on the right track. You probably have a lot of questions about your next steps. Review the acceptance letter that has been emailed to you with your next steps.

Activate Your Admitted Student Account

Now that you’ve been admitted, many of the steps on this checklist will require you to access your admitted student account. To begin, follow the activation steps at IllinoisState.edu/Activate.

You’ll need your University ID (UID), which is included in your acceptance letter that was emailed to you.

Your first step is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available beginning in October, and we encourage you to complete it as soon as possible for full consideration.

Students who have completed the FAFSA and all requested documents will receive financial aid offers beginning in April for summer/fall students and October for spring students.

If you are transferring to the University within two years of high school graduation, you must live on campus. You should complete your Housing contract as early as possible for an opportunity to select your room and roommate.

Students living on campus must purchase a meal plan. Meal plans are optional for off-campus students.

Connect with Future Redbirds

Parking permit information is mailed to students who live in the residence halls or university-owned apartments. Off-campus students can also purchase a commuter parking permit.

You don't necessarily need a car. on Bloomington-Normal's Connect Transit system, including the Redbird Express that runs daily across campus.
