Human Resource Management Sequence
The Human Resource Management sequence emphasizes leading edge human resources in all organizational settings. The sequence provides students with skills in human resource management consistent with the current needs of organizations. Students in this sequence acquire the specific, in-depth skills necessary to assist organizations in the effective utilization of employee skills and talents.

Organizational Leadership Sequence
The Organizational Leadership sequence trains students to develop the skills necessary for success in leadership positions in both businesses and non-profit organizations. Courses focus on skills working with people and groups, as well as decision-making and institutional change.

Minor in Business Environment and Sustainability
The minor in Business Environment & Sustainability builds students’ awareness and knowledge of the relationships between business and the physical environment. This minor prepares students for careers in organizational leadership, corporate social responsibility, risk management, environmental sustainability, and other sustainability-related areas.Ìý
No more than 9 hours of courses may be selected from the student’s first or second major department.

Minor in Organizational Leadership
This minor helps students develop interpersonal and team skills, as well as further developing leadership experience. The program prepares students for leadership roles within business or non-profit organizations. The Minor in Organizational Leadership is not available to majors outside the College of Business.

Major in Business Administration
The Business Administration major prepares students for a wide range of jobs within a variety of industries. It provides the general skills that can transfer into a variety of career choices. Focused on the management and operational skills that are crucial to running a business, a business administration degree will prepare students for any number of entry-level positions in a variety of organizations, such as financial institutions, professional firms, medical clinics/hospitals, government, and non-profit agencies.
In addition to learning about core business disciplines such as accounting, finance, marketing, and management, BUA students take specialized courses in Cost and Management Accounting, Electronic Business Management, Investments, Marketing Research, Organizational Behavior and Administration, and Quality Control Management.
Program Admission Requirements for New and Continuing Students: Admission to this academic program is limited and is based on space availability and the competitiveness of the applicant pool. Factors that may be considered include, but are not limited to: courses completed, cumulative GPA, hours completed, personal interview or written statement, and samples of work completed. Business Administration minors at Illinois State are able to supplement their major coursework with a background in business. The minor is designed for studentsÌýwho want to study business,Ìýbut don’t want to specialize in one of the customary functional areas of business (accounting, marketing, finance, or management). The Business Administration Minor is not available to majors in the College of Business.
